Sa Dec - Market Day on the Mekong River

There must be some grocery stores around somewhere. We haven't seen any since we left Siem Reap in Cambodia.

We drove up in a tourist sampan. This one looked like a private version.

Inside the homes we visited, much of the furniture was solid and massive. Rearranging the furniture would not be fun.

One of many seafood stalls.

As our guide stated, "We don't eat our dogs. We eat our neighbour's dogs.

"Little rabbits" are actually rats.

Vegetable department: taro, cactus, bamboo shoots, etc.

Meat Department

These frogs crawled over each other, but did not hop off of the platter.

Be careful of motorbikes in the aisles, but take note of the colour and pattern combinations on the ladies.

Betel nuts and leaves are for chewing. They give a mild buzz and apparently carry health hazards (like tobacco).
Next we visited the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, the lover of french novelist Marguerite Duras.

The design of this house is French on the outside.

and Chinese on the inside.
This house was the real life setting for the movie "The Lover", about a young french girl meeting a wealthy chinese man.
