The Garden of Eden and the Fall of Man by Jan Brueghel the Elder and Peter Paul Rubens
This is a painting of a large gallery which contains reproductions of all the great works of the age. The artist is in the forground painting a portrait of the wife of the painting's commissioner. His wife was reputed to be the most beautiful woman in the world, so of course the painter fell in love with her. The noble was not upset at all. He agreed that the painter could keep his wife only if he could keep the painting. The beauty of the painting would certainly last longer than the beauty of the woma. She is fact was dead within two years.
