Salamanca

The ship stopped and stayed in Portugal. Debby also stayed in Portugal, but most of us boarded the bus and crossed a bridge into Spain. Interestingly, there was no border check. Only a sign told us we were entering a different country.

Black Pork

This is City Hall. It is on one side of a very large open square.

The other three sides of the square are occupied by private condos/apartments.

Walking the streets, you find many many private apartments.

This is a Dominican Monastery.

Across the road from the monastery is the Casa de las Conchas (Shell House).

Now the Shell House is a public library.

This is the University of Salamanca, The columns on the wall were built to commemorate a
visit from the Japanese emperor.

An entrance into the university

In 2018, this university will celebrate its 800th anniversary.

This is the Old Cathedral of Salamanca.

Details of the sculpture include skulls.

This is one entrance.

A busker is looking for donations.

Some of the carving was updated in the 1990's. Now included is an astronaut.

Also from the 1990's, the creature is holding an ice cream cone.

On Judgement Day, Jesus is separating the Godly (on the left) from the sinners (on the right).

University students are busking and looking for donations.

Black ham is available on the street.

Another Meat Market
