Bear River

Bear River is a tiny place which calls itself "The Tidal Village". It straddles a tidal river so the houses and shops near the river must be built on stilts.

When we arrived the tide was relatively low, so the mud was visible under the buildings.

We went for a little ride to visit the Bear River Winery. The wines were all quite light and quite dry - lovely.

Debby didn't read the "Private sign and so was preparing to test it out.

After the winery, we discovered that the level of the river had changed considerably.

The dock was floating.

The stilts were in the water.
