Low Tide at Hopewell Rocks

Our next stop was at Hopewell Cape. We were lucky to arrive just before low tide, so we were able to go down and walk on the floor of the Bay of Fundy. One of the naturalists explains that the base of Lover's Rock (with the hole in it) was 28 feet above the water level. During the highest tides the water rose 47 feet. The hole was completely underwater.

Walking on the ocean floor

The seaweed is underwater at high tide.

Rocks and mud

These steps lead down to the floor.

Deb surrounded by seaweed

Not really mud flats, more like rock flats.
