Tenuta di Stacciano

Tenuta di Sticciano means "The Sticciano Estate". It is large enough to be measured in hectares rather than acres. There are many buildings, many of which contain single units, apartments and whole homes These are all rented out to tourists. The largest will hold twenty people. Besides tourism, this is a working winery. They have one large field of green grapes and massive expanses of red grapes. They produce one white wine and several red wines. At this point in the year the white wine is depleted, but there are reds still available. The grape harvest has only happened recently, so fresh wines will soon begin to flow. There are very extensive olive orchards which are almost ready to be picked. Most will become extra virgin olive oil, but I have seen a few trees with black olives. To pick the olives, they spead a large fine-meshed clothe under a tree. Then they bring ih a machine which grabs and shakes the entire tree. The estate is quite old and has gone through many changes of ownership. The current owner purchased the property seven years ago. He lives in Singapore and has only visited one time.
They look like limes, but they are lemons.
ASn umbrella pine tree looms over an ivy covered old building.
Just out for a little walk. Even outside the gate, these flowers are on a drip reticulation system.
I don't know what they are. The fruit is small and covered with little jaggies, like a jackfruit.
This little building is just above the underground storage cellar.
It is an Agriturismo Resort.
Here Deb is walking on top of the wine centre. The little vents help with temperature control.

These fruit are ripening on a fan palm. On our last day here, it rained most of the day. We just relaxed and enjoyed our down time. Throughout our entire stay in Tuscany, it rained every day. Luckily, we maintained an almost perfect record. It stopped raining most times when we had to get out and walk. The best example was Pisa. It rained until we had to begin our tour. It stopped when we wandered through our tour. In the car on the way back to our resort, it poured. Just before we got back to the estate, it stopped so we didn't even get wet walking back to our room.
