Ah Chihuahua

On December 31st at 2:00 a.m. we experienced our first moment of panic. We were all packed. The driver was expected at 2:15 and Deb had lost track of her blood testing kit. All the bags had to be shuffled and repacked until the kit was found at about 2:30. We were off.

Clearing customs in Toronto was a challenge but the Dallas airport worked like a dream, giving us enough time to enjoy a liesurely breakfast before boarding our flight to Chihuahua.

Our hotel in Chihuahua seemed to be focused on Navidad, but down the road, the restaurant we encountered had a Day of the Dead theme.

A short guided tour of the town gave us just some of the highlights. We discovered that Pancho Villa was from Chihuahua. He was a bandito and he a hero. He was an invader of the USA and he was a Mexican Robin Hood. In his lifetime he had 25 wives. He was elected Governor of Chihuahua but only kept the job for two months. What a fascinating and terrifying character!

We met up with Catriona and Carol and had dinner (so-so), and crashed. (Party Poopers on New Years Eve)
