Condesa Neighbourhood

Today we spent a few hours just wandering around the neighbourhood where we live. In the guidebooks, it says that Condessa is a family neighbourhood and a place to get away from the hustle and bustle. In fact, there is still a lot of hustle, but it really is nothing compared to the centre of the city.

This fountain is in the middle of an intersection.

Some of the houses are quite unique.

This is a very dog-friendly neighbourhood, even in the restaurants.

Deb is having another rest.

More Dogs

There were Scout, Guide, Brownie, and Beaver groups all over the park.

With so many dogs, there must be a dog grooming van.

You need to know that Mexico City has a population of 26 million people, which makes it the most populous city in North America. We were also told by a guide the other day that Mexico City is the largest in area in the world. Wow. I believe it.

We have been using the Metro (subway) to get around most days. There are at least 15 separate lines which seem connect every part of the city, but there are often many stairs between connecting lines. The trains come every three minutes and have only been crowded a very few times. The fare is 5 pesos (less than 50 cents) to go from anywhere to anywhere.

Supplementing the Metro are the MetroBuses. They ride in restricted lanes. They cost 6 pesos and they go everywhere else. As well, you see many local buses zipping about. The seem to be more crowded and I imagine that they require local knowledge.
